Reception
Mrs McEwan - Assistant Head Teacher/Early Years Foundation Stage Leader
Mrs Lonsdale - class teacher
Hello and welcome to Reception's class page! The class teachers in Reception this year are Mrs McEwan and Mrs Lonsdale, who are joined by Mrs Clarkson, Mrs Clough and Mrs Siddle. Mrs Armstrong works with us on a Wednesday, Mrs Collinson on a Thursday and Mr Bell (Deputy Head Teacher) joins us on a Thursday and Friday too.
In Reception, we plan activities that are balanced between child-initiated and adult led activities. When children are operating in the provision they are learning through play, within enabling environments and with the support and guidance of knowledgeable adults. Reception aims to provide secure relationships in which children flourish and reach their full potential. The environments are very well planned for to ensure they meet the needs and interests of all children, provide adequate challenge, as well as enabling children to revisit so that they can become secure and build on their learning.
Children have access to the both the indoor and outdoor environments throughout the school day. We love the outdoors and always take full advantage of what nature has to offer in our amazing outdoor spaces.
Children always have fresh fruit each day and a carton of milk is available should the children want one up until the age of five. We are very active and plan for opportunities to move to music and exercise daily.
An overview of our themes and activities are sent home to parents and carers every half term. This term we have been looking at our favourite stories. Our key texts for this half term are: 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea', 'The Rainbow Fish', ‘Owl Babies’, Dear Zoo’ Where’s My Teddy’ and 'Elmer'.
If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Reception Team
